Paris Black & White Panoramic: Eiffel Tower, Invalides, Defense

This is the first of two panoramic photos I made during a transient moment when the sun rays burst through the clouds and lit the Défense neighborhood while casting heavy shadows over the center of Paris.

That was an intense moment; the light was changing very fast, the wind was blowing and making the camera shake between each exposure. After a couple of minutes, it was all gone, the sun had set and left Paris under a dark grey sky.

Black & White enhances the mood, the changing clouds and the luminosity of the scenery.

In this aerial panoramic view of Paris, we can see the Champ de Mars (with the Trocadero and Palais de Chaillot) and the Eiffel Tower with La Defense behind it and on the left, the Military School and the Invalides. Further in the distance, on the right bank of the River Seine, we can see the Arch of Triumph and the Grand Palais.

Paris truly deserves its name of City of Lights.

When the light shifted away from the area of La Defense towards the right, I took another panoramic image: Sunrays over Montmartre and the Sacré-Coeur Basilica
