Bure Peak & Tête de la Cluse in winter - Black & White

Winter is always magical in the mountains. At the end of the day, when the sun starts setting, giving off a soft lighting that plays with the snow, the mountains take on a new dimension.

On this photograph, the colors were subdued by some low clouds, so Black & White gave it its full scale.

This panoramic image encompasses the entire southern side of the mountain range, with Tête de la Cluse on the left and Pic de Bure on the right. The Bure Peak, in the Devoluy mountain range (Southern Alps) is known for its sheer cliffs and its high altitude plateau that is home to an interferometer operated by the IRAM (international research institute for radio astronomy).
