Empire State Building at Sunset

The Empire State Building standing strong and proud at dusk is a New York classic. New York City is known for its dramatic skyline changes due to its variable weather; that evening was no exception. The blend of red, white and blue lights that were crowning this famous 103-story Manhattan landmark made the sky warm and luminous.

I took this aerial view from the north side of the building, showing lower Manhattan cityscape at sunset with the Financial District, Soho, West Village, and in the distance, you can even have a glimpse of the Verrazano Bridge on the left and of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor on the right.

Designed in the Art Deco style, the Empire State Building continues to be one of the world's tallest skyscrapers and is a true American cultural icon. From the observation deck, the views encompass the entire island of Manhattan, the boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, as well as parts of New Jersey on the other side of Hudson River.
