Frozen Lake - Central Park, New York City

New York City is like a beehive with people running everywhere, cars and trucks rushing from one side of the city to another, noise is present constantly and then... snow comes... and turns the city into a quiet and peaceful place.

After a snowstorm, early morning is a good time to venture to Central Park. It gives you the feeling you are in another world: sounds are muffled by the fresh snow, the air is crisp and transparent and the ice cover on The Lake draws strange shapes and curved patterns like big hearts...

In the distance, we can see Central Park South and the beginning of civilization again, with the Essex House building in the middle.

Whether you're a New Yorker living in Manhattan or a visitor coming to New York in wintertime, you owe it to yourself to stop in Central Park after a snowfall.

I decided on a Black & White photograph as it better reflects the serene winter atmosphere that the ice cover on the Lake and the fresh snow on the ground gave to Central Park that morning.
